Falls are a leading cause of hospitalisation over 65. The good news: most falls can be prevented with simple adjustments at home.
Bathroom
- Install grab bars in the shower area and next to the toilet.
- Use a non-slip mat and a shower chair.
- Light the night path to the bathroom with sensor night lights.
Living areas and corridors
- Fix rug edges with double-sided tape or remove thick rugs.
- Route cables along the walls; keep walking paths completely clear.
- Keep frequently used items at waist-to-eye height; nothing should require a stool.
- Choose seating at a height that makes standing up easy.
Stairs and general
- Add handrails on both sides of stairs and edge strips on steps.
- Replace bulbs with brighter ones everywhere; leave no dark corner.
- Prefer closed-back, non-slip house shoes over slippers.
- Have vision and hearing checked once a year.
- Use a glow-in-the-dark collar for pets at night.
If a fall happens anyway, fast notification is the critical factor. Fall detection in the app automatically alerts the whole family with location after a hard fall.
